Mount Abraham, affectionately known as Mount Abe, is a rewarding hike tucked in Vermont’s Green Mountains near Lincoln. Starting at Lincoln Gap, the trail climbs steadily through dense hardwood forest before reaching the Battell Shelter—a welcome midpoint rest stop. From there, the terrain gets steeper and more rugged, culminating in a short but exciting rock scramble.

The summit unveils stunning 360° views, including glimpses of the Adirondacks, Lake Champlain, and neighboring peaks. It’s a roughly 5-mile roundtrip trek with an elevation gain of over 1,700 feet, popular among hikers seeking that sweet spot between effort and payoff.

The alpine zone near the top adds a touch of wild drama, making it one of Vermont’s most iconic hikes.
