Take a Hike! (and other recovery wellness events)
Welcome to Wilderness Programming for Addison Country (WPAC), also called “The Wolf Pack”! These events are open to persons in the community that are in recovery as well as their close friends and family. The group is organizing events throughout the summer with the goal of giving people an opportunity to gather and enjoy the outdoors together.
Rain or Shine! However…
The group will plan to hike rain or shine, however, in the event of thunder/lightning storms events may be postponed or cancelled. Communications will be made on the Turning Point of Addison County website and our Facebook page.
What to bring on our hikes:
Bring your own water and snacks.
The following items are suggested to ensure safety and maximum positive experience:
Backpack
Water
Snacks
Insect repellent
Headlamp/flashlight
Raincoat
Fleece pullover/sweatshirt
Comfortable sneakers or hiking shoes
Middlbury Golf Course Loop
Date: June 4th, 2026
Time: 5:30 PM
Location: Meet at Porter Field Road Parking Lot, off of South St. in Middlebury, VT.
This section of the Trail Around Middlebury (TAM) skirts the Middlebury College Golf Course and offers a mix of open and wooded terrain. It provides lovely views of the Adirondacks and is part of a larger 16-mile loop.
Wright Park Trail
Wright Park features nearly 4 miles of trails through a heavily wooded area along Otter Creek.
Battell Woods Trail
Date: June 18th, 2026
Time: 5:30 PM
Location: Meet at TAM Trailhead off of Seminary St. in Middlebury, VT.
This 2.5-mile network is part of the TAM and connects Murdock Nature Preserve and Means Woods. The trail passes through old hardwood forest and is popular with mountain bikers. It features a mix of packed earth and gravel surfaces.
Mt. Philo Hike
Mt. Philo State Park sits atop 968-foot Mt. Philo, offering breathtaking views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains.

A rugged and rewarding hike to one of the state’s most iconic peaks.
