A moderately challenging 4.1-mile out-and-back hike along an old carriage road that leads through hardwood forest to a stunning panoramic overlook of the Champlain Valley and Adirondacks. With a steady incline and a few rocky stretches, the trail rewards hikers with sweeping summit views and a glimpse of the historic foundation of the long-gone Grand View Hotel. It’s dog-friendly (leashes required), best hiked from June to October, and particularly striking during foliage season—just be mindful of side trails, bring bug spray, and note that the summit lookout is closed April through August for falcon nesting.
